Whether you choose an in person or telemedicine visit. Our journey begins with an extensive review of your history and current lifestyle and symptoms. Dr. Swanson will spend time reviewing any prior studies, labwork, medical history, symptom history to understand your individual journey and support you. We spend an entire hour together reviewing my interpretation of your place in the menopause transition and reviewing options to treat symptoms of perimenopause and prevent disease states of post menopause.
Whether you are having hot flashes, rage, anxiety, despair, sleep difficulties, low sex drive, pain with sex, frequent yeast infections or UTIs we will discuss options for addressing these. We will set a framework for nutrition and exercise that will support you in the menopausal stage you are in. Common hormone therapies we prescribe include whole body estradiol, progesterone, testosterone and local estradiol and DHEA. I will offer natural supplement recommendations as well. As an integrative perimenopause and postmenopause Physician I offer IUD insertions, Endometrial biopsies and can send imaging studies or referrals as needed.
I believe YOU are in the driver’s seat with your medical care. I will listen to you and educate you on all of your options, and during the visit you will make decisions about your health that best fit who you are, as only YOU can do.
I plan to see you back after the initial visit at least within 3 months but sooner if you would like. Hormone therapy needs frequent titration at the beginning. It also takes about 3 months for hormone levels to stabilize after a dose shift. We will adjust your medications based on your experience, review lab work and check in on your nutrition and fitness goals. After we get you to your best self, we like to see you annually to check in and refill medications. If you are on testosterone, which is a highly controlled medication by the government, you will need to be seen every 6 months.
